Soaking fallen leaves, pressing them into a mold and applying steam and heat and using no glue whatsoever, create Verterra all-natural dinnerware. The result is a wood-like dish, bowl or platter that is microwavable, resistant to refrigeration or heat, but is biodegradable and compostable, in two months time after its tossed.
The products are nearly as affordable as competing disposable products without the enviro-friendly applications attached and come in a variety of shapes and sizes to suit any need.
Additionally, the factories use 10% of the energy that most recycled paper plates use and the water used to press the leaves is recaptured and reused as well making it a truly natural, non-toxic, renewable, sustainable and compostable alternative to paper or plastic.

These plates are a great alternative to paper/plastic/styrofoam. I ordered a few to see if they could work for a wedding. These are sturdy and I have no doubt they would hold up to whatever we would serve, but we've decided to pay for the caterer's china after all. We do however plan on order more of these plates for parties.
Also, these are nicer than the Leaf and Fiber plates if you're wanting these for an event. Both are about equally study, but we thought these were hands-down nicer. I have not ordered bamboo plates from this website before, but the bamboo plates are super nice. They do not feel disposable and the look is fairly uniform (unlike these or the leaf/fiber plates), but they are also much more expensive. But, if you're looking for disposable and environmentally friendly and cost isn't a problem - for a wedding or similar event, I'd definitely get bamboo.Price: Value: Quality: Good product, but shipping is enough for one to be a bit apprehensive about making the purchase

The reveiw is a little more time consuming than I would have like with filling out two "required review sections. In any case I love the plates they are sturdy, of a good size, and look nice especially for a and eco choice of disposable plate ware. The one thing that makes me reserved about the purchase was the very high shipping rate and in which case I am still deciding whether or not I can afford to bulk purchase these for my wedding. The actual price is not so bad tough I suppose if either the price, the shipping fee, or both came down by even 15% I would feel a little less apprehensive about my purchase.
In all it it a nice product, and I wish I were able to find it locally to avoid the shipping fees.Price: Value: Quality: Great
