The English "pestle" derives from classical Latin "pistillum", meaning "pounder". The classical Latin "mortarium" led to the English "mortar", meaning "receptacle for pounding" and "product of grinding or pounding". Both terms have been used traditionally in pharmacies for myriad purposes, but its kitchen uses hold no bounds either.

    Love the design

I have been looking around for a modern mortar and pestle for quite some time and am glad I finally found it. Hard to believe, but many are designed the same way and this one is very unique and matches the modern decor of my new kitchen. The only thing I don't care for is the word 'edge' on it, but was willing to compromise for the sleek cool overall design
