A ceremony dating as far back as the 1840's, tea was always held in high regard for the English. Because tea was so expensive, the lady of the house would generally keep it in little Chinese jars in her pantry - alongside bowls and pots. In the 1600's English coffee houses in England multiplied and quickly attained a degree of political importance due to the volume of talk which they generated. Thus the "coffee klatch" term was formed.
Although these two earthenware canisters are not to be kept in closets, we think they will spark witty conversations galore. Their freshness and simplicity is a perfect way to pay homage to simpler times and time honored traditions.
