Gorgeous mugs...and a family story
For Christmas gifts for myself and siblings, I ordered a total of ten Three Kings mugs, a mix of the burnt toast&cream and gold&cream. They all were very beautiful, the designs and details being wonderfully executed and much admired by the sibs when they received their gifts at family party. By the way our family name is King, and here is the back story for the special interest in your beautiful mugs: My father, Robert King (born 1910), had three sisters who entered the Roman Catholic order of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. At Christmas they would send to our family various Christmas cards all featuring the Magi. One year I questioned my Mother as to why all three Sister-aunties sent Magi cards each Christmas; it was a great puzzle as I knew them as witty and creative women, and this repetitious offering seemed so unlike them. Mother explained that in the convent community, the sisters new each others' family names, and since they were Father's sisters their last name was the same as ours - King. Thus, in the community they were known as "The Three Kings." Being the clever, witty women they were, they sent cards with the Magi every Christmas as a way to remind us of the family ties that they cherished. When I saw your wonderful Three Kings mugs I remembered this family story, which was shared at the family gathering when the gifts were presented to my brother, sisters and niece. And now your beautiful Emma Bridgewater Three Kings mugs are part of our family story, too. Many thanks.

Great Buy!
LOVE this mug! The iridescent gold beneath the glaze is much prettier than the photo can capture. I wish more pieces were available - like the plates, which only come in the black version. I hope this is the first of a series of carols now that the skinny robin is a bust & people only want fat English birds.
